Buick Main Office

In this view of the second Buick office on Hamilton Ave. the time would be in the '20s and judging by the height of the trees most likely the early '20s. What I find interesting is the guard shack at the lower left. This is the only picture I've seen showing a guard shack located here. They were a common fixture all over Buick at the points of entry. The announcement for the contract to build this new Buick office was made on September 7, 1917 and would be built by the W.E. Wood Construction Company of Flint and Detroit at a cost of $250,000. The Wood company also built the Central High School in Flint. W.E. Wood who started his own company in Flint originally started with the Charles A. Moses Co. out of Chicago who were the general contractors for the construction of the first Buick factory on Hamilton Avenue in 1905. Field, Hinchman & Smith out of Detroit were the builders.
The main office in 1922.

This is an early postcard view of the second Buick office on Hamilton ave.
