M-18 Hellcat Shipping

This photo shows the Hellcat tanks on the move out of the rail yard at Buick, heading for Europe during WWII. You can see factory #31 (factory #11 at that time) in the background. The tanks were covered more for secrecy than keeping them clean. This view is facing south west.

Interesting tidbit, My Grandfather was in charge of the hellcat tank assembly, and my father, was one of the founders of the Mr. Goodwrench program. Both contributing to GM history. I only worked there for 10 yrs. But as a boy I had a paper route south of Miller Rd. and Harlow Curtis was on my route, when he was President of GM.
