Inside Factory #17 War Work

Here in factory#17 during WWII Buick workers and military personnel were both taught how to build and tear-down the Pratt and Whitney engine. This engine was used for the B-24 medium bomber and the B-17 heavy bomber, the M-18 Hellcat tank used a similar radial engine. All parts for this engine were made under licensed contract at Buick but assembled at the Buick plant especially built for this work in Chicago.
